EACH PROJECT IS A NEW PARTNERSHIP.
What makes LAB different from every other creative studio? Well, for me it’s simple. I’m not in the game of turning and burning projects. I take on a few clients at a time to ensure the highest quality and attention-to-detail. When you hire me, you’re hiring someone, not something. My eye is on every drawing and I’m at every meeting. From day one, you have my direct number and email, and you’ll be treated with importance.
MY PROCESS
I believe the design process should be exciting and fun! We’ll work together to understand your personal design style and needs, and no two LAB projects are the same. Like a custom-tailored suit, your project should be a reflection of who you are.
My process is collaborative, iterative, and thorough. From the big-picture concept to the smallest detail during construction, our communication will be relaxed and clear. And we’ll have fun doing it. (I say that again because it’s important.)
I value family and personal time (yours and mine!), so we won’t be working into the wee hours or on weekends. Play and connection to nature are a big part of my design process and we all need time to do that.
LAB values lasting, authentic beauty and uses these traits as inspiration in all designs. For a building to LAST, it needs to be thoughtfully designed and crafted. Sustainability doesn’t just mean green materials and systems—it means creating high-quality, high-functioning buildings that won’t be torn down in ten years. To be AUTHENTIC, a building must be of its time and place. And if the project succeeds on the first two principles, BEAUTY is the happy end result.
When it comes to my design philosophy, I can not say it better than the legendary industrial designer, Dieter Rams. He says,
Good design:
Is innovative
Makes a product useful
Is aesthetic
Makes a product understandable
Is unobtrusive
Is honest
Is long-lasting
Is thorough down to the last detail
Is environmentally friendly
Involves as little design as possible
